The UNEP (United Nations Environmental Program) will hold a conference on the topic of “Mongolia Renewable Energy Futures and Green Development” tomorrow in Ulaan Baatar. As I reported in January, Japan and Mongolia have signed an agreement on joint actions to counter global warming. Third Round of Negotiations on Japan-Mongolia EPA

The Japanese Foreign Ministry just announced that the third round of negotiations is scheduled for April 2 to 5 in Ulaan Baatar (note that I change the spelling of Mongolia’s capital as of this post, even if Wikipedia still has the old version). I have nibbled enough at learning Mongolian to know that “Ulan Bator”Continue reading “Third Round of Negotiations on Japan-Mongolia EPA”

Transport of Solar Panels Talking Point

There is a new anti-solar talking point up at the “Brave New Climate” propaganda blog (link omitted on purpose). The author has discovered that it would actually cost way too much to transport all those solar panels. There would be unbelievable numbers of trucks necessary to get the job done. I must admit that IContinue reading “Transport of Solar Panels Talking Point”

Mongolia Charging Interest for Getting Payments Early

No, that doesn’t make any sense. Why do you ask? But it seems to be actually the position of the Mongolian government that the Oyu Tolgoi investors should pay interest for tax due 2012, but paid already in 2010 and 2011, according to Bloomberg. Again, thanks to this tweet by Enkhbat Dangaasuren for the link.Continue reading “Mongolia Charging Interest for Getting Payments Early”

Much of that is aimed at puttingContinue reading “Investment Climate in Mongolia Getting Worse”

Some Slight Progress

The US Embassy to Mongolia just tweeted this: Өчигдөр Абрахам Линкольны төрсөн өдөр байсан. Төрсөн өдрийн мэнд хүргэе АНУ-ын 16 дахь ерөнхийлөгч Линкольн! I am pleased to note that I understand every word, though this is really very simple.
