I haven’t written for some time about the Fukushima site. In my opinion both TEPCO and the Japanese government are unable to adequately deal with the crisis. They should ask for more international help, especially from the veterans of the Chernobyl cleanup effort.
Now Bloomberg reports that the Japanese Trade Minister Motegi announced that “from now on, the government will move to the forefront”. Thanks to this tweet by Kevin Meyerson for the link.
Again, I recall that the Russians deployed over 500,000 “liquidators” at Chernobyl.
In contrast, the Japanese Trade Ministry will “draw up a plan” “by some time in September”, according to the Bloomberg article.
