The link at number one in the “Energy” community at Reddit now points to this Bloomberg article, titled “Tesla Arranges to Repay U.S. Loans Five Years Early”.
I learned from that article that Tesla, along with Nissan, Ford, and Fisker (no, I never heard about them before), has secured financing from the American government at $435 million. That was to be repaid in ten years under the original terms, but Tesla wants to pay back five years earlier, because that way they avoid giving the government the option to acquire a lot of Tesla stock.
Tesla expects to deliver 20,000 cars this year, and to become profitable.
