While EU Energy Commissioner Oettinger wants to limit deployment of solar in Europe just as it has come way down in price, the Chinese government moves in the opposite direction.
Bloomberg just reported that they have raised their goal for solar in China to 35 GW by 2015, up from 21 GW they had as last year’s goal.
Courtesy of German ratepayers, who footed the bill for the first stage of getting solar to scale, prices are way down. That means it is more competitive everywhere, including China, where the most important battle to defeat coal will be fought.
