Sueddeutsche Zeitung has some insider information about a proposal by EU Energy Commissioner Oettinger coming up. Oettinger will publish a 20 page document this week.
Reading the article I get the impression there may be some discussion about the German Law on Priority for Renewable Energy, especially in connection with the European Union regulation of subsidies.
I will reserve judgment until I have actually seen that paper. But as I said a couple of days ago, it will be rather difficult to find any consensus on energy policy in the EU. Right now all support schemes are national, and the Treaties reserve the right of each Member State to decide on its energy mix, so there are limits to what the EU can do, even if Oettinger finds a majority for his proposals in Parliament and Council.
Stay tuned.
