Oyu Tolgoi Railway Connection

Okay, just about all I understand in this Mongolian language press release from Mongolian Railway is “төмөр зам”. which means, surprise, “railway”.

But they have a nice map with their press release, even with English names for all the towns.

So it is quite clear to even someone like me with rather limited understanding of Mongolian language that the plan is to connect the Oyu Tolgoi project by rail to both China and Russia.

Considering the fact that a lot of copper will be produced there shortly, this development plan probably sense.

I just hope people can work out the trust issues around the Investment Agreement.

Update: Here is some more in English language from Business Mongolia. From that article I learn that there has been a Cabinet decision on November 3 which authorizes Mongolian Railway to go ahead with building the line connecting Oyu Tolgoi to China and Russia. They should secure financing from international sources, but with Mongolia owning a majority stake.
