News.mn reports that there will be a debate in the Mongolian Parliament next week on renegotiating the Oyu Tolgoi Investment Agreement. The article says that 26 Members of Parliament signed a petition that states “The OyuTolgoi Investment Agreement only enables foreigners access to Mongolia’s wealth, but, it must be revised and changed into a mutually beneficial agreement.”
I assume that the Members of Parliament who signed that petition want a bigger share for Mongolia. There is no word in the article on how much they think it would be appropriate to pay for that increase in share.
This, in turn, would make the negotiations on a “revision and change” very easy, as noted before.
