Japan Times just published an article by Jochen Legewie on recent policy developments on nuclear energy in Japan, which unfortunately gets the basic facts wrong. Thanks to this tweet by Andrea Ortolani for the link.
That is another occasion to briefly state what actually happened.
On September 14, the new long term energy strategy was adopted by a Committee, and the next week it was approved without any changes by Cabinet.
Prime Minister Noda has confirmed this repeatedly. Once on national television (in Japanese language), and then again in a speech to the United Nations (in English).
Whoever thinks that Japan sets an energy strategy just to reverse it a couple of days later is just plain wrong.
