Japan is serious about phasing out nuclear energy. NHK reports this about Prime Minister Noda’s address to the United Nations yesterday:
On energy policy, Noda said Japan aims to achieve zero reliance on nuclear energy by the 2030s. He said Japan will spare no measures or resources to achieve a shift from nuclear to green energy. He added that the country wants to promote renewable energy around the world by providing a model for shifting to green energy while maintaining economic growth. (My emphasis)
That’s exactly what the “Revolutionary Energy Strategy” of September 14 says, and what has been approved by the Japanese Cabinet.
