Interview with CEO Manz about a new world record in efficiency of CISG thin film solar cells.
Manz AG is a German engineering company with about 2000 employees and 240.5 million Euro revenue in 2011.
Their press release says that solar electricity could be delivered at 4 cents per kWh in Spain and 8 cents per kWh in Germany. There is no indication on the cost per kW that figure is based on in the press release.
Of course, 8 cents per kWh in Germany is much less than current feed-in tariffs even for the largest generators. And at this level solar would be competitive with fossil fuel everywhere, even without any feed-in tariffs.
